Smokescreen
I am wearing a vest
Covered in smoke grenades
I pull a string laced through my shoes
Light the fuse of ferrous smog
At the slightest hint of a
Modicum of interest in
The subterranean self
I rescind, rewind, retract
You are a miner in the mountains
A range of peaks unconquered.
Setting smoke signals to signify
That you are more than this
And that I am visible underground.
