Waning Moon
Oh alloweth the darkness to not engulf!
Let the Moon wan no more
Let ocean crash upon the shore
Oh alloweth the page to fight the roaring waves
Let the battle be one they can not defeat
Let the blood seep within the six feet
Oh alloweth yourself to gorge your eyes
With the full moon
The craters a future ancient rune
The cream flush a fascinating shade
Oh alloweth the balance of the Gibson to not come
Let the power engulf you
Let the strength strike you

My piece reflects deeply of my feminist views to let yourself not be "engulf[ed]" by society's wants of women and also ego. This poem I wrote in a more extremist tone to feel very empowered but also to question how one carries out their values and actions. I wrote this poem inspired by my immigrant mother from Japan who struggled with breaking sexist barriers and is as vacillating as the sea.
