Beneath the Grass
We all arrive to that day
The gloom and dismay
And we always try to push it away
We stride, we run, and then we stoop
Our legs go wobbly and our arms start to droop
Our back goes out, and so does our jaw
We make n’are a cackle, but merely a caw
Which is why you should today,
Not sink down in dismay
But instead throw yourself into the fray
Learn to enjoy the circumstances of life
Learn to ignore your pains and your bodily strife
So come hither my friends, with food and some drink
Try to be merry, don’t deprive yourself and sink
Pile on your platter a mountain a beef
For eating and drinking shall bring you relief
We’ll all know that fateful time
When you hear for the last time a clock that shall chime
So be merry while you’re still here
Rather than just play dead half the year
So don’t put down your glass,
Toast to your king or your lass,
Make sure to have one last laugh
‘Cause you can’t do that when you’re beneath the grass
