Bonfires
Sometimes quiet, sometimes raging
Burning yellow or sometimes quite pale
Day or night, it's glow is always bright
It's warmth has eternal solace
It burns, and burns, and burns
It burns the woods
It thickens the air
And at last, all it leaves
In it's wake, is ashes
Destroyer! Destroyer!
That's how it's known
A villain to be feared, don't go near!
They all felt the warmth
But remember, they never did
They all saw the light
But then, darkness always reigned
Still it burnt, never once flickering
Until everyone took flight
To the secret lands of their minds
Only then did it flicker, getting dimmer
Until nothing was left,
But a thin strand of smoke
It had reached its goal
And done it's truthful service
For that was it's purpose
Or else it would be meaningless
Water will be everywhere
Trying to darken your light
But blaze with such warmth
That the water should vaporize
Let go of your ego, for the world
Will always try to wet your desire
Burn with a glaring intensity
Just like a bonfire
