Irreplaceable Damage
“Your mom got you another cheeseburger for dinner; we need to talk.”
Fifteen seconds pass:
The child darts to the second-story bedroom.
Twenty seconds pass:
The child lifts his t-shirt in front of the mirror,
Wishing his father's concerns lay in his happiness
Rather than his baby fat.
Five minutes pass:
The child squats in front of the toilet,
His hands plunged down his throat.
Five years pass:
The adult spends nights at the gym,
Destroying his body so he can meet his father's expectations.
Devoting his mornings to cooking a nutritious breakfast,
Claiming that his obsession with food is
Typical.
His “loving” family continues to applaud him
For being so diligent.
“So motivated and disciplined,” they say.
The child is now an adult.
An adult who’s scorched by his father's remarks.
The phrases and words
Adults disclose to the youth are irreplaceable.
Irreplaceable words are killing society.
These damaged children are sent into the world,
Sent to work, and sent to school,
Spreading their deep-rooted hate to others.
And, one phrase is all it takes.
