The Price It Takes
If that's the price it takes
Then so be it
I am no longer able to sit in the shadow
Casting over me
I feel like a weed,
Trying desperate to grow over a fence,
But when I finally get close enough to the top
To see what's there
Someone comes and trims me away
Like an old brick wall crumbling under the weight
Of years old roofing and buildup
Sagging under the pressure
But I don't crack
I don't break
I sit and wait to wear away
So if its the price I have to pay
So be it
Because I can't stand idly anymore
Waiting for you to change
So if you wont
I will.
