green eyes

Eyes that glisten,
like polished carnelian.
Eyes that glow bright,
like the autumn sun.
The eyes you wear
on your face
your ears
and your neck.
Eyes that cry louder than the crashing stream
cascading off the rocks at Palestaid Falls.
Your eyes of gold.

This piece is about how my significant other made me feel loved and confident in myself and my eyes when brown eyes are always frowned upon for being so common. Lines 10-12 reference my earrings and necklace of carnelian that they gifted me due to the similarity of the color to my eyes.
