Summer Sickness

The Great Jones County fair was a scare.

Went to all the concerts,

Had a grand time but ended in a bind.

Late Saturday night, gave me a fright,

My throat throbbed in pain,

Violently shaking under four blankets from the chills, I felt my health going downhill.

Temp rose to 102, thought it was the flu.

Drove swiftly to the doctor,

Took all the painful tests, only to be stressed.

All arrived back with a big negative stamped on the paper.

In so much discomfort, I only got worse,

Proceeded to wake up with pink eye, I cursed.

Got called back to the doctor and took the torturous tests again,

This time tested positive with covid and a virus, it was disastrous.

No medicine to cure, I was in fear,

Ended up better next Friday, felt like gold that Saturday.

Just in time to go to another concert!
