"Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise" -Les Misérables

A girl, who didn’t know it yet.

Took a chance and lost the bet.

And that innocent girl who didn’t know it yet.

Still wishes, she could forget

That girl has now grown,

Been hurt by those with hearts of stone

How she wishes she had known

That here she won’t have a home.

That girl says she’s doing fine

Under a weight that is breaking her spine

And she wishes she could tell

But she knows too well

She knows too well what they’ll say

She knows too well that they won’t stay

But that girl also knows

In that pain, her words will flow

Her words will flow

Flow onto a page as her confidence grows

She’ll write her song, put music to it

She’ll sing her song,

And their hearts will grow with it.

The author's comments:

I wrote this a few weeks ago after a particularly bad experience coming out as trans to one I considered a friend. I use poetry and song to process my emotions, leave them on a page I guess. If you are to take anything out of this, let it be that no feeling is permanent, no matter how extreme. It will get better. Trust me
