Lost but Never Meant to be Found
I pick the velvet petals that once were intact
I watch as they scatter across the grass
The dying rose reminds me of you
The time you wouldn’t change so I became someone new
You claimed that you were my savior when that wasn’t the truth
It was me who saved you during your damaged youth
I told you stories that were written in my past
But when I asked you to write us a future, you just laughed
I thought we understood each other,
since we both had our parents who fought one another
We had a crave for music that would make us sway
But it died out and became quiet like the Chesapeake Bay
Everytime I see a flower slowly shrivel, I remember my growth
I focus on my goals and stay true to my oath
There you are still weeping and in pain
But it does not matter now because I am not the one who lost more than they gained
