The Sea
“I am the parent.”
“Because I am your mother.”
How many more times must you say that,
Reminding me of how insignificant I am
When it comes to the law of authority.
You awash me in a sea of your love.
The waves are your kisses,
While the seashells and colorful coral, gifts.
Everybody loves you.
They admire how beautiful you are from the inside to out,
But they haven’t even seen the depth of your dark waters.
In this sea of love,
I’ve sunk so deep..
That my cries for help are drowned out,
And the bubbles pop
Before they can even brush the surface.
You claim you’re there for me,
That you’ll always be ready to listen.
But obviously your hatred for him
Silences any love you have for me.
There’s always two sides to a story,
But yours is all you see.
As for you’re the dark sea,
And what faults could be seen in the bubbling foam known as your white lies?
I can see the dark spiraling clouds from a mile away.
Like a storm that rocks the sea,
Your wrath is harsh and unforgiving.
Never in the eye of your storm,
Would you find a flaw in yourself,
The sea.
Your own thoughts,
Crash over my feeble plead,
To have the waves halt,
Even just for a second—
Let me speak.

And the life with a divorced parent, never mind the bitter things they have to say about the other...Just mind the thoughts that originally take place in your mind about them...
This poem is about my mother. It's hard to live with a narcissistic parent, especially one that's now divorced and anything they have to say about the other parent is something bitter.
