The Nature of Being Lost
she’s lost, in the garden of her mind.
as her thoughts conceal over her body, in a green cocoon.
only to be accompanied by the dew of a lost heart's cry.
tip tap! the ladybug says hello!
tippity tappity! as her walls break mellowly to the ground.
she flutters her untrained wings,
to the quiet warm earth’s core.
not quite a butterfly. not quite a worm.
lost, they call’d her.
unsure of who she is.
unsure on where she coexists among the rest.
Must she get lost to be found again? they whisper to her.
to fly above the crystal sea,
and squirm among the pretty trees.
Must she get lost to be found again? she reminds herself.
to rebirth as a butterfly,
guiding a light to all that please,
shedding down leaves of possibilities.
to rebirth as a caterpillar,
to hug the surface of the ground,
and offer her love to all who are around.
Must she get lost to be found again? the world echoes as she finds a home in being lost.
lost in the exploration of her beautiful mind’s garden.

I wrote this poem to highlight the feelings of trying to find yourself at a young age. Being a teenager in highschool is the time in most people's life, where we start to find out who we are or who we want to be. Although, it's okay to not be sure of who you are quite yet, one must ride the wave and enjoy the journey. Find peace in being "lost". I hope my poem will reach the hearts of those who stress over not knowing themselves, and encourage a new perspective. To live your life, doing whatever feels happy and right. Things will come when they are meant to. Take a step back, relax and enjoy the unknown journey!
