We all want the luxurious things in life

A gorgeous, glamorous suit in white

Diamonds, platinum, jewelry, and all of this gold

In this world, greed will never get old

Sat down and listened to father above

Where there is money, there is no love

We all want to buy brand new off the lot

Lexus, Mercedes, BMW on the spot

Putting money on a pedestal ‘til we’re all dead

This world has let money get to its head

The sin of Greed is the elephant in the room

The sin of Greed is humanity’s doom

No problems spending thousands of bucks

Slaughtering the bank without giving a f*ck

Money cannot buy personal satisfaction

Money cannot buy popularity or attraction

A paycheck is all humans desire to chase

Money is slowly destroying the human race

 A dollar cannot fix a man’s depressions

But it can fuel a man’s foul obsessions

The desire to fetishize gorgeous, green cash

The man upstairs told me it would make the world crash

It’s amazing the power a dollar bill can hold

Feed one family and strand the other in the cold

Money can be the death of man

Money is all really part of the plan

Money can create a society that’s sick

Money can turn a humble man a prick

Breaking the bank means breaking the heart

A man’s greed is where it all starts

So I tell you to avoid making money a whole

It has the power to take total control

“Cha-ching! Cha-ching!”, and all this bling

Understand when you float on it won’t mean a thing

Fancy things and green, glorified and all

But they motivate the greed that makes society fall

The author's comments:

This piece was somewhat of a "freestyle" that came straight out of my head onto paper. The central idea behind this piece is to highlight the commonly overlooked trait of greed. My intent in writing this is to expose the bare skin of what greed and fiending for money do to a person and even society. This piece could be considered a reality check to those who are materialistic, as I want for my audience to reconsider how they view money and its place in America's society.
