Man's Best Friend
The dog looks at his owner
With all the love in the world.
Possessing a childlike admiration,
He follows her down the sidewalk path
All the way to the pond.
They swim,
They play,
And he loves every second of it.
She splashes
And he splashes too.
But in a moment,
she goes under
And she does not come up.
He barks,
Howls,
Screams,
But he is alone
Under the moon.
He has no help
And suddenly he loses
All which he lived for.

Writing this, I wanted to tell a very short story that invokes an emotional response. It shows the strong bond between humans and their animals that does not go away after the human dies. Animals still care despite tragedy.
