Beautiful cage
A beautiful girl
In a Beautiful cage
Huddled in the corner
In a room fit for a king
Hair in tatters
Breaths ragged
Clothes torn
Who is she?
Once a farmers daughter
now a future Queen
picked for beauty
best of the bunch
people come in
maids, servants
they pick the girl up
a sack of bones
They drop her in a bath
hot water
cold air
damp skin
They scrub her clean
lavender soap
warm water
rough sponge
her long hair is
cut
combed
curled
Her eyes
once bright red
now dull
the color of dried blood
Red is all she sees
red as crimson
spilled from her father
red like her blood
Red like
the gloss
applied to her lips
Cherry red and fake
Who is she?
She can tell you
Borne from dust
raised to gold
She is Queen
