Nightmare Dreamscape

Drowning in fear

I stay right here

I don't dare move

There's nothing I can do

I sink as I think

On the brink of extinction

Death flirts with me

With lies I can't see

I fall for the trick

I take poison picks

Trickling with promise of peace

I drink the venom to escape

But my mind just loses shape

In a nightmare dreamscape

Daydreaming of what might be

If I gave up to the grave

The author's comments:

My name is Raven.  I'm a trans girl who lived in New Hampshire for most of my life.  I went to Catholic school for the majority of my school career until the schools started making rules that invalidate my identity.  I transferred to a public school and was immediately accepted for who I am.  In addition to writing poetry, I enjoy writing music.  I primarily play guitar.  I also play drums, piano, bass, and sing.

This piece is about a time where I was dealing with suicidal thoughts.  I would often find myself unable to focus on school, while I would think of commiting suicide and the affect it would have on the people that I cared about.
