Gas Disaster
Not that long ago,
In Canton, IL
A gas line, like a bomb, exploded,
Causing windows to shatter into tiny needles
Buildings to rock, and tilt
And leaving a building in ruins.
It was caused by a gas leak
The worker didn’t realize
The old Canton opera house,
Was the building in ruins.
The windows of every store in the square were shattered
And some damage to this day
Is yet to be fixed.
People are scarred from the experience
Yet to be fixed
Canton will never be the same
Canton can be better,
It will be fixed,
Will be better.

I'm a high school student doing a project with poems. This is the poem I wrote about an event that happened in my town a couple of years ago.
