The time has finally come

to leave the only world we have ever known behind.

No more associating with teachers while we roam the halls

trying to get out of the class we dread most.

Last chance to run up our home court

with the crowd roaring and screaming as we make the game winning basket,  

last time walking out of the locker room -

wearing the same ripped jersey that has our scents imprinted on them

for what feels like decades.

No more sprinting through the halls when the lunch bell rings

trying to secure the first spot in line.

The year we have all been waiting for is finally here.

It is time to turn the present into memories and leave it all behind us.
