Everyday
Everyday I'm counting down till the last day of high school.
Everyday I'm thinking about college.
Everyday I wonder what college will be like.
Everyday I cherish my friends and family.
Everyday I take off a ring on my last day of school countdown.
Everyday I try to make the most out of everything.
Everyday I talk to my future roommates.
Everyday I'm dreaming of college, but part of me doesn't want to leave yet.

I am a senior in high school and I'm going to college in just 3 months. It's a big reality check when you realize that your 4 years of high school is almost over and now you are going to be on your own. I liked this poem because yes, I am excited to go to college, meet new people, and be independent but the other half of me wants to stay home with my friends and family. Staying under a roof knowing that I get fed every day and night. It's a very weird thought knowing that I'm moving out, away from my family. I talk to my roommates everyday and think about college but I also think about my friends and family and how different life will be once I'm gone. I used the word ‘cherish’ to describe my family and friends. Since I am moving out and will only be home once a month, if even that. I need to cherish my friends and family more than ever right now because before I know it I'm only going to be able to see them on a screen and it's going to be a 3.5 hour drive back home to see them.
