Truthful Stories
I’ve been to places all across the world
Seen fantasies far and wide
Animals, plants, people, structures
And landscapes vast as the sun
True.
I’ve seen towering castles stand
With their peaks high in the clouds
As students below in red, green, yellow and blue
Manipulate the world around them.
True.
I’ve seen rolling green hills with doors in them
That lead to the houses within
In a lovely, homely place called the Shire
Filled with small, round, shoeless people
True.
I’ve been to a camp for children
Who are more than merely human
Orange T-shirts and bronze weapons
And wildly different little cabins
True.
I’ve been thrown in the middle of an arena
With 23 other bloodthirsty children
Learned to shoot a bow and survive in the woods
And saved the life of a boy I knew
True.
I’ve seen all these places and things
Without ever leaving my room
Warm in my bed I travel to far lands
And see things beyond this world
True.

By writing this piece, I wanted to capture the feeling of reading a book. It's a magical thing, and you can go on any number of adventures just by opening the cover. It's something that can't be mimicked, or replaced. This poem alludes to some of my favorite books, and captures the feeling of visiting the worlds within the pages.
