The Same Morning

I thought I’d awaken to a new morning
Family members laughing, birds chirping
But everything is the exact same
The sun is still hidden behind the blinds

Mom is in her room working
Like always
Sister is most likely still sleeping
Like always
Me waking up early for school
Like always

No difference here

Though we’re all connected through technology
I still feel that loneliness
The question isn’t if we’re in this together
But how are we
individually

So on this plain, basic morning
We repeat
Over and over again
Like a clock throughout the day

Individually
We try to fight our own demons
We stand alone
Because who would want our burdens
Everyone has got their own

We’re invisible in the dark, but in light
We’re as bright as we need to be
In this pandemic, we will discover our true feelings
In discovering, there is pain

For it’s our pain that builds us up
Shows us who we really are, in case we lose ourselves
But we have to know why
Don’t ignore your feelings, but think about why you feel that way

Why does reading a book make me feel calm and happy
Why do I not like silence so much?
Why do we always need someone else?
Us figuring out ourselves makes us stronger

We’ll soon see how this pandemic affected us
In both a good and a bad way

Let people see how this brought us self strength
Leave the darkness along with the fight
When this ends, we’ll be happy and laugh about how
How we found ourselves with the sunlight through the blinds

I just feel like this is something most teenagers are going through right now. I wrote what I felt and I believe it is very relatable.
