goodbye
December 15, 2020
a luminous yellow butterfly from above the clouds
softly kisses my nose and flutters away
leaving only a faint memory of warmth behind
and a goodbye i couldn’t remember

this is dedicated to my grandma who passed away when i was about two years old. my mom said that at her funeral, there was a yellow butterfly that kept flying at them, so they believe that if they see a yellow butterfly all by itself, it's my grandma. true enough, when we were packing to move into our new house, we saw a yellow butterfly fly into our garage, and again when we all first steped on the driveway. i still have faint memories of her even though i was at such a young age, and i miss her so much. she stills impacts my life today after about thirteen-fourteen years of being gone, but she's still in my heart and will always be there.
