A seed is planted in the ground where a dead flower used to lay

You begin high school.

The flower sprouts, reaching up towards the heavens

Your emotional and physical strength is tested for the first time.

The rain from the storm pushes the top of the flower closer to the ground--

But then it allows it to grow.

You discover your self-worth.

The flower sprouts its first petal

You decipher between good and bad friends.

The flower wilts from the drought

You are holding on to the last bit of hope that resides in your soul.

The rain finally comes after days and days--

But then it doesn’t stop.

Your heart is shattered again, and you struggle to put it back together--

It won’t be the same heart you once knew so well.

The sun reappears after the storm

You are able to conjure up more hope after nearly losing it all.

The flower is sprouting faster than ever, gaining new petals each day

You remember who you are.

The cycle will restart with each stage of life.

A flower does not grow consistently.

A flower strengthens after periods of weakness.

And when a flower grows,

it will not be the same again.
