i can’t begin to imagine where
your soul rests as your body wastes away,
maybe somewhere in the sky,
with the cruel gods who took you
from me in this cold winter;
maybe it has disappeared altogether,
gone like the rest of you.
can you still hear me calling into the darkness?
can you still come home from where you lie?
i just wish that i had gotten
a better chance to say goodbye
