I am from a peach house,

From slippery stairs,

And a hole in the bathroom floor.

I am from the scent of the lilies of the valley,

Who’ve spread their way,

To the edges of the garden.

I’m from grape salad and cheesy potatoes,

By the best of the best.

I’m from the go-getters,

The reach for the stars,

Role models and best friends.

I’m from campfire cooked hotdogs

And fireworks, and a carfire.

I’m from hand-me-downs and coupons,

And long hours reading.

From colorful nick-nacks I felt the need to keep.

From baby clothes now being passed on.

Stories of generations,

And traditions long kept.
