Hunting Thrill
Stephen Eskridge
Hunting Thrill
It starts when I wake up,
I’ve got one thing on my mind,
I gather my equipment and head to the truck.
The truck stops in the perfect area,
My only thought is to be thankful for the opportunity,
I unload my gear and head for the stand.
My steps are quick, but quiet as a cat
I climb into my stand, not making a sound.
I sit and wait for daybreak to crest,
The woods come alive with noise,
The best place to sit and think,
I just love the feeling of being alone.
Sunrise begins to light up the woods,
Things you’ve never seen finally become visible,
My eyes catch movement in the distance
I look back on how I prepared for this.
He walks within bow range,
I draw back and let the arrow fly.
Hours later I get down and the trek begins
I’m excited when I finally laid eyes on him.
