Cancer
It has no face
until it infects someone you know.
Then forever after when it is mentioned
you see that face
the lost hope mirrored in their eyes,
while even still they try to fight.
But it will, inevitably, take them,
bringing them to a place where
you cannot talk to them or see them
forced to rely on memory.
Cancer is a thief
that will never be caught.
But what about survivors?
All those that overcame?
They did not succumb,
they fought and struggled and won,
knowing the deadly consequence
that came with losing.
They live to tell their story,
they speak for those passed on.
In survivors you will find
the spirits of the stolen.
FIGHT CANCER!

Members of my family have been diagnosed with cancer in the last year. One died, and the other survived. I have seen both ends to the story, so I wanted to share how they each felt.
