Cognition Compendium Vol.1
Storm
A malevolent maelstrom manifests
Deep within the caverns of confidence
A course of action, unforeseen, yet
Impending with a schedule for debauchery
None can hear the booms that shake viscerally
None can feel the vigorous grips of wind
None can constitute the requited defection
None can conform to its warnings.
Instead, we
Adhere to ignorance for the fruit of laughter
Forgetting the aches of hilarity.
After the storm has settled
Nothings seems repairable
And even in the spur of newfound teachings
The stain of black ashes
Seems to never dissipate.
Was it all worth it?

Keen
We found love through our power
To endure the rings of Saturn
The atmospheric rust
Pushing bounds for hours
Denunciated fuss
For kids of simple stature
They’d shine off the dust
While we enjoyed the router
Yet, in spite of surface trust
We dyed as poised wallflowers
Colorful in trust
As petals fell from showers
Lips against the crutch
To cries of guilt in cower
Talks of hap and lust
To looting out the tower
And when the bricks adjust
To nothing that depends
I’ll know what it took
When you lost a best friend.

#006
Love amongst the shadows
Kissed by life’s depart
Grief reprised by violence;
Self-assigned, to start.
Whisked away to meadows
Pulled until apart;
Drowned in hues of violet
Choking on the dark.

This is an assignment done for K12. The three poems coincide thematically, and illustrate a broken period within my life; one that, despite its pain, inspired me with a dark creative force.
