I was excited, so very excited
Now I don't understand why.
Always stressing over work and people.
I wish it was summer again.
Ninth grade, the easiest year I think
But everyone looks and treats you look like a toddler
Yet you're still expected to act grown
But some girls too grown, but that's them.
I thought tenth grade fresh start,
New year it will be different.
Oh how I was wrong, it stayed the same.
The same girls, the same drama, the same
problems, nothing new...
Trying to get through this day annoyed
by teachers who look at me wrong when
I'm in the hall or bathroom because my past,
And trying to do work that I simply don't understand.
"She's a d**e now" he says,
"You awake there bud?"
Happy with myself trying
to ignore others who I just
Don't want to deal with.
What can I say, high school is
not what i expected, I came in
with a different mindset than now
and I'm only half way there.

I wrote this in class as an assignment. It's inspired by It's Only the First Week of Tenth Grade from the novel Poet X. I never actually read the book but yeah.
