Where Im From
I am from concerts and music
From sisters and friendships.
I am from boo-boos and kisses to make it better
(it will be okay, they’d comfort me)
I am from piano lessons
And loving your pet with your whole heart.
I am from Lucy howling
And Walter meowing.
I'm from Jeep and Buick
I am from TV and takeout.
From blueberries and strawberries
I'm from the Ollila laugh,
And the Chadwick charm.
I'm from robins and depression
From scars and sadness.
I'm from medication to be happy
And being daddy's little girl,
From I have cancer to goodbyes.
I'm from teddy bears bigger than myself
And animals that will understand more than you ever will.
From feeling sick to wrong diagnoses
And praying to feel better at church every Sunday.
I am from therapist appointments
And being told it will all be okay.
From sad Christmas’ and bad New Years.
I'm from yelling and fighting
And forgive and forget.
I'm from funerals and grief
From to many black dresses
And dried out tears.
I'm from I miss you’s
To I hope to see you soon
And Heaven is a real place.
