Grades Were a Godsend
Stay at home
Work follows
Where I roam
brain hollows
School follows me
Into my den
All I can see
Ten out of ten
All they ever say
All grades were godsent
Got a ten hooray
Grades don’t leave a dent
No one will remember
All your seventh grade grades
So much “Yes Ma’am,” “Yes sir,”
My faith begins to fade
All the homework, so much stress
Eight hours per day, wasted
Don’t care for it, must confess
Freedom I barely tasted
Wake up at 6:30
Always late not early
Too early for birdies
Waiting for when I flee
