o que significa ser um imigrante
Fleeing a country torn in ruins
El Salvador has its corrupt government,
Brazil has the highest crime rate in the americas
Venezuela’s economy has crashed
Colombia and Mexico are in a constant drug war
Trying to find a place where you can be “free”
You love your country but its dangerous
but is being underpaid and “illegal” any better
You’re just going to get deported back right?
On foot or by coyote you'll spend your nights and days traveling to the land of the free.
You've found a “better life” right? your “happy now” right?
Yes life is better but you miss your familia, your culture.
You must stay. but acquiring a green card
means marrying into a white family for your ‘’American Privileges”
It's been ten years, you feel safe
you have kids, you are married
But you forgot about immigration control
You forgot to get the green card
You forgot your life before
because nothing seemed better than what you had now
Forced to pack your bags
Forced to leave your house
Forced out, then what, Deported
Days spent alone south of the U.S Border
Making calls to your family when you can
You've seen everything
Your grateful for what you had
But this is a new chapter
Going through unbearable pain
Just to end back where you started
o que significa ser um imigrante

I come from a family of immigrants, I am from brazil. Ive seen the good, bad, and the ugly of moving to America from Central and South America. Ive had friends and family members deported and its really hard to go through because they've been taken away from you for no reason other than they wanted to be happy. They werent drug dealers or criminals they were just normal people.
