I Am From
I am from the sight of towers, that make one feel like an ant.
I am from the smell of fresh cut grass on a baseball field.
I am from the heat of the south, baking your skin on hot summer days.
I am from the sound of dribbling a basketball on the concrete at neighborhood courts.
I am from the taste of steak and chicken, served with hot mashed potatoes.
I am from the smell of fresh corn on the cob, with a glob of butter on top.
I am from the taste of fresh biscotti, right out of my great grandmother’s cookbook.
I am from the world’s best lasagna with as much melted cheese as you can imagine.
I am from “Did you scoop poop yet?”
I am from “Those video games are numbing your mind.”
I am from “I literally called the TV first.’’
I am from “I love you more.”
I am from ships at Ellis Island bringing loads of people from Italy and Germany.
I am from a long line of hard workers, who have tried their best to make it in America.
I am from Farmers and Miners, to Lawyers and Businessmen.
I am from people who love you no matter what you do.
