Birds
Doves cry out in pain,
wounded by the world,
how can something so pure be so hurt?
Ravens caw at the rain,
sitting perched on tree branches,
trying to stay away from the wet world below.
Hummingbirds find sweet nectar,
buzzing around the flowers,
on a warm spring day.
This hummingbird is like no other bird.
Though it is small, it is strong,
its puny wings move faster than the eye can see,
propelling its way through the sunshine fields.
The hummingbird makes its way to the crow and dove.
Crow still so angry,
dove so broken and tainted,
“Why must you let the world take advantage of you?”
the hummingbird says,
“You are so wounded, so offended, we have these wings, come fly with me.”
