Dreams

Every night we go into our own little realm

Where only we sit at the helm

Into caves where dragons dwell,

To places in which only we can tell.

Where we get to choose the story,

Where we can stay and take all the glory.

Dreams come and go,

There are ones where we make all the “dough”

Those in which we discover new land,

or those where we take a new person’s hand,

To places where only we can decide

How much craziness will be in tonight’s ride.

Dreams are what make the world go ‘round,

Without them, scientists wouldn’t have found

A cure for strep throat,

engineers wouldn’t have figured out how to make a ship float

Nobody would know what an inch

Is, birdwatchers wouldn’t know what in the world’s a finch,

And authors books make us want to turn the page.

Without goals and dreams, we would still be in the Stone Age.

Now it’s time to recap,

Of all the dreams that can happen in a nap,

They could all be goals,

Or full of holes

But, of course, they are what we want,

And they will forever haunt

Us until we make them come true.

I hope people will realize that dreams are more than just what happens when you sleep.
