The Ones In a Cage
I feel like a bird,
my spirit is free but my wings are clipped
and I am in a cage,
my feathers have been drained of their color,
as if to terminate every aspect of my creativity
my voice is not beautiful enough for the ears of
those with privilege, so
they cut down the trees to make me flee,
but if we were to see who they really are,
they would be the ones in a cage with clipped wings
for that is where they belong,
though their title prevents us from seeing so.
