If Only
You tell me you’re trying to be neutral,
When the guy being rude isn’t truthful.
I did nothing but ask a favor,
But instead you called me a traitor.
I don’t know what to do,
At this point I’m just trying to get through.
Come on let’s be real,
You don’t care how I feel.
I feel dumb for going to you,
When everything I said was true.
Why would you protect someone who lied,
When all he wanted was for me to cry?
I was verbally attacked,
So of course I snapped.
If you tried to see through my eyes,
You would’ve spotted his lies.
I thought you were my friend,
Or did you just pretend?
I thought we were good,
I guess I misunderstood.

This poem was a mainly a fight between me and my best friend. I told her about a dispute I had with one of her guy friends and I asked her for help, but she criticized me instead. She insisted that the fight was my fault without hearing my side of the argument. After that, we stopped talking to each other and grew apart. I felt so many emotions at that moment, I was able to write this poem in about 20 minutes.
