The intense need
For her approval
Sends me spinning,
Searching,
Stuck in a rapid pivot
As I watch my time
Sprint by me.
My independence
Stumbles,
Trailing behind
My mind in its
Race for acknowledgement
While she watches on the sideline.
She breathes
Steady as a pacemaker
While I hyperventilate.
