A Favor From the Devil
I’d heard the devil makes good on
His promises, so when
He told me he’d give me anything
I believed him and pondered what
I wanted more than anything
I had no need of money
I never thought too much of fame
But I had an inquisitive mind and
As time trickled away, I, just out of curiosity,
Asked the devil to watch him die
With a relieved sigh, the devil
Complied and I found that day that
Immortals become human before they perish
And as the devil fell to the ground
His fragile corpse wore a smile
