Adolescence
The clock hits twelve, I pull up to the empty road.
The sky is black and the shadows wave.
I slam the gas.
Chasing the semicircle of light I cast.
I shoot by the fifty sign, going sixty.
My adolescence zooms by at seventy
Absolute freedom zips by at eighty
Pure adrenaline crashes through me at ninety
Sixteen with a licence.
Dumb and Free.
One Hundred Percent Alive.
