The “One”
The person you were meant to be with has always been there. Just look into the mirror and say hello.
Notice the color of their eyes. The shape of their nose. The slight lift in the corner of their mouth.
They might laugh. After all, it took so many years for you to finally notice them. But now, you see, they’re actually quite beautiful.
They may be a little shy. After all, you are staring. But it probably feels like you’ve loved each other forever.
But maybe you’ve forgotten how to show them.
Maybe you’ve never actually taken the time to try.
Now, this person in the mirror, you’re first thought may have been that they are not the most interesting, not the most magnificent creature you have ever seen.
But you are oh so wrong.
So very wrong.
They are the sun and the moon and the stars and cosmic dust. They are everything in between.
They have cried the tears of the deadliest storms and laughed the ground into earthquakes that have knocked others off their feet. They walk the world with a trail of fire, but they have loved enough to try to put out the flames.
This person in the mirror.
If you look close enough, you’ll see that they’re afraid of loss. They hope knowing that they’ll be disappointed. And so they hope some more.
They hope and they keep on going, because that’s all they can do.
So much is held in their hearts, so promise them you’ll protect it.
So much doubt is in their mind, so promise you’ll erase it.
This person in the mirror, it’s funny how long it’s taken you to realize that they are the one you’re meant to spend the rest of you life with.
So get to know them. Hold on and never, ever let go.
