On the road

California, Nevada, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Oregon, California

It’s hot

smoky

with a surprisingly large number of red moons

and a surprisingly small number of pee breaks

My dad gets a text

a fire just east of Ashland

is raging

My brother and I bombard him with questions

Is it in Ashland?

Will we not get to see Oklahoma!?

How will we get home?

Where should we go?

but the wind is blowing east so it does not affect our plans

this time

The jet stream is going on strike

Holding a sign

Cool down the Artic!

It loops it’s way to who knows where

causing fires in the northwest

and floods on the east coast

It’s time to stop red moons,

smoke,

fires,

the loopy jet stream,

to stop climate change

once and for all

This time we go through Ashland

see Oklahoma!

go the way we planned

This time we are safe

This time

The author's comments:

l was researching about fires and ideas just grew. I wrote a poem to share the knowlege I gained and my personal experience with our changing climate.
