Untitled
I’m from summer nights filled with super bounces on my trampoline
from weekend adventures to unfamiliar campgrounds,
from bitter homecomings.
I’m from a broken family,
from a broken heart,
from broken promises.
I’m from sitting like a statue in a tree stand,
from hours of awaiting,
from impeccable timing, to put meat in the freezer.
I’m from burning lake days,
from water shooting up my nose,
from bright red shoulders that demand cooling.
I’m from hurt and betrayal,
from R.H. Sin, Lang Leav,
from empty “I love you’s.”
I’m from my home, N64W34230 Bayview Road,
from five moves,
from five houses, never being the same as “home.”
I’m from a home I can no longer call mine,
from a family, now divided into two,
from a empty promise, transformed into a lie.
