Girl2Boy
I don’t miss your carelessness, your utter
lack of attention to my deeper emotions,
how you could never solve my easiest puzzle
until my voice could no longer grasp on.
I miss your smile, how one corner
of your rouge lips lifted just a fraction
higher than the other, how that corner climbed
a little more when I came into your view.
I don’t miss that last (Fri)day, when
you exhausted my voice repeating
“just a friend” like a broken hand record,
how I left you on our cold, dark wooden
planks in front that mint clearance sofa.
I miss you.

This piece is written from the perspective of a girl who recently got out of a relationship with a boy. It is a small list of things she misses and does not miss about the boy (the pros and cons of their relationship). I wrote this after the abrupt end of my last relationship, to show how meaningful relationships can be, but also how quickly the nature of a relationship can change. This is part of a pair of poems, the other part being "Boy2Girl".
