A Love That Never Ends
When all that is was made
And God created us
He called me to be his
And filled me with His love.
There was no thing called time
We had no numbered days
Our bliss, it had no measure
For we had ev’rything.
I dwelled in the garden
Where I saw and surveyed
The beauty of creation
And all that God made.
Once when I was dancing
Among the emerald leaves
A figure came before me
Amidst the swaying trees
His feathers were pure gold
His wings reached to the sky
He towered there before me,
His sword sheathed at his side.
Yet fear I did not feel
When I looked into his eyes
They embraced me with a love
That made my spirit sigh.
He clasped me to his chest
As if afraid I’d leave
Dancing to the setting sun
To be a memory.
“Love, I do not know you
But with you I will be
You make this garden Eden
When you’re holding onto me.”
He cupped me with his hands
He gave my lips a kiss
That sent my heart a’ flutter
And filled me with such bliss.
There we stayed forever
Clasped in a warm embrace
While the sun and moon shone on
And day passed after day.
So if you see a statue
In the garden of the Lord
It is me and my belov’d,
Even now our love endures.
