The Endless Battle
We have fought.
We will continue to fight.
Sadly it will take long before we have a chance,
Sometimes passed over without a glance.
We make up almost half the world.
And yet still we are stuck in war.
The difference is often overlooked.
See how long it took?
We both fire from the same arsenal.
The weapons are universal.
Not all of us have the same path,
But the rival soldiers still feel the same wrath.
No matter how hard we train,
We still feel the relentless pain.
Thought to be less of them,
Although we are covered in equal amounts of gems.
I just don’t understand how we have not won,
The gap just refuses to be gone.
Caught in something like the undertow,
We surge forward but then get pushed back even further.
Wave after wave crashing on top of each other,
No matter how much we try
The winning side is still the men
The wage gap seems to be forever present.
136 years until peace might spread.
But then again it’s a might, a possibility.
For more fighters are born every year
And it's up to them to choose who they are, and where they stand.
How long until we run out of strength?
If we ever reach the point, how long until we give up?
Will they ever realize how much we can do?
Or will the men’s vision be forever clouded?
Even if it’s just a thin film.
The judgement is a virus,
Slowly spreading it’s way throughout the world.
We all have immunity to it.
The rivals are too weak,
Yet they say we are the smaller ones,
For being able to resist the urge to think lower of ourselves
Many succumb at some point in our lives.
But when we realize that we were wrong,
We emerge stronger than ever,
Ready to be soldiers.
We scream
We shout
We fight
To open the minds of others
Because “we are all created equal.”
