Finding Freedom
Trying to live for yourself and others
At the same time is
A daily struggle.
Being that girl.
A free soul, with reckless abandon.
She admires the beauty in this world:
A grassy field full of wildflowers,
A path through dewy, green woods,
A river and wet, cool, bare skin,
Fun, laughter, distant music
Around a bonfire,
On a warm summer night.
But this kind of beauty
Only comes with a harsh, angry voice.
In the back of her head,
Holding
Her
Back.
Tying her to something,
Or someone,
She doesn’t want to be.
Yet, she’s always listening, always
Waiting,
longing for the other voice,
The one that’s supposed to come
Any minute now,
And set her free.
