In Regard to Private _________
Tears ran down the boy’s eyes to his chin
He stood with fear and thought how will it end
Would he choose a death like the rest
Shall he take a quick blow to the head or chest
Will his blood leak and merge with the soil
A thought that left his love for home to spoil
The smell of death loomed with the fog of fall
Next to him laid a corpse that would soon be used as a wall
All to save the last men’s hide
Their sole goal was to save their home’s pride
Then a BOOM came with a late POW
The blast burned one’s brow
There he lay, warped, as his blood oozed its way to the red creek
War is no place for the meek
