I looked out the window
And I saw you go by.
The train screeched to a halt
And I jumped off the ride.

You ran towards me
And I prepared for embrace.
For this match made in heaven,
Was due to God’s grace.

Then it all happened.
It happened too fast.
One little catch,
And you were down on the tracks.

I ran over to help
But I was too late.
The train screeched to a halt,
Right after your fate.

The author's comments:
The inspiration for this piece came from a Writing Mid-Term project that included creating poems from different pictures. The picture that inspired this poem was a train coming into a station. I was the only one to take a negative approach to the visual prompt and that's why I decided to submit the piece.
