Beautiful Pain

The sound of the wind
Whistling in her ears.
As her feet,
Weightless and heavy,
Pound at the ground.
The thick pungent odor ,
Of freshly cut grass.
The quiet screams,
Of and oncoming storm.
The cool burning sun,
Hot on her back.
The salty sweet taste,
As the dripping sweat,
Trickles into her mouth.
The glossy feel,
As she presses
burning fingers,
Into her palms.
The beautiful strain and burn,
Of her legs.
As they beg and plead
For her to go on.
But she doesn't.
For the sharp pain in her left knee,
Warns her to do otherwise.
